Can you wash a vinyl shower curtain in the washing machine?

I've read you can do that. Is it true? I have a shower liner made of another material, and I can't remember what it is. Could I put that in there, too?

Yes, make sure you use warm water, not hot not cold. Add a fews towels to the wash. You can put it in the dryer but set the temp to Air Dry (no heat)
**The reason you use warm water is that cold water makes vinyl hard and brittle and not pliable enough to get clean not to mention more fragile. Hot water makes the vinyl too soft and will stick to itself so the entire surface will not be exposed to the cleaning solution and cycle.
Use vinegar not bleach.
Bonus Hint...When cleaning hard surfaces bleach does a better job in COLD water. I learned this in a 4 hour sanitation class given by my state health board.

You shouldn't wash them at the same time, but they can both be washed in the machine. For the vinyl curtain, add a few towels to keep the machine from unbalancing (if you have a top-loading machine) but make sure they can be washed in hot water. Add some detergent (a bleach-based detergent will kill any mold on the curtain), or a cup of white vinegar. Most cloth curtains have a care tag telling how to launder them, so check for that. If there's nothing, try washing it in warm water with your normal detergent.

You have to wash it with some towels, but I've done it. As far as the shower liner goes, if it isn't very substantial, I'd put it in a lingerie bag, but you should be able to.

yeah, it works great. put a sheet or towel in with it to get it really clean. don't put it in the dryer though!

Yes but make sure you use *COLD* water. Throw a few towels in as well. Some people say if you pour vinegar in with the water it will remove soap scum better than anything else.

Don't put it in the dryer, unless you really like the smell of burning plastic.
