Can a vinyl shower curtain liner give you cancer?
someone told me breathing while opening the package for a vinyl shower curtain liner puts you at more risk for cancer than second hand smoke from 1,000,000 cigarettes. Is this true?

Ok, well I didn't know the answer to this myself, so I researched it which led me to some interesting news that I was definitely not expecting.
According to my research, your friend is right. They apparently contain extremely high levels of phthalates, which make the plastic soft, but are very harmful to breathe in. These shower curtains lead to not only cancer but liver and nervous system damage.
